Lindsay Spiller

Entertainment, Business, and Estate Planning Attorney

Lindsay Spiller is a San Francisco business lawyer, an entertainment lawyer, and an estate planning attorney. He has been a sports agent, a professional musician, a sailing captain, a business owner, and a teacher. Since founding Spiller Law in 2006, he has built a transactional law practice advising startups and mid-sized businesses and corporations as a business, entertainment, and estate planning attorney.

As a 24-year-old law student, Mr. Spiller founded a sports agency representing football players. Two years later, he became a marketing manager for Advantage International, then the third-largest sports agency in the world. He negotiated endorsement contracts for NFL players John Elway, Dan Marino and Curt Warner, MLB players Harmon Killebrew and Kirby Puckett, PGA golfers Larry Nelson and Larry Mize, and NBA players Moses Malone and Sam Perkins.

As a musician, Mr. Spiller has performed professionally around the country as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. For several years, he was a member of the Washington Choral Arts Society and sang with the Society on its recording of Corigliano’s “Of Rage and Remembrance," winner of the 1997 Grammy Award for "Best Classical Album.”

A life-long sailor, Mr. Spiller has sailed over 25,000 miles as a licensed captain, having sailed the Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound, the Caribbean, Florida Keys, New England, the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific Coast from Seattle to San Diego, and his beloved San Francisco Bay. At various times over the years, Mr. Spiller has also taught hundreds of students to sail on the Potomac River, Chesapeake Bay, and San Francisco Bay as a US Sailing-certified sailing instructor.

Born in San Francisco, Mr. Spiller received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley (AB in Political Economies, with distinction). At Berkeley, he was president of the student body, sang tenor in the California Men's Octet, played trombone in the California Marching Band, and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Lindsay earned his law degree at Georgetown University Law Center (J.D.) in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Spiller is licensed to practice law in the State of California and in the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the following organizations:

  • California Lawyers for the Arts (Panel and Referral Attorney)

  • University of California Alumni Association

  • Georgetown University Law Center Alumni Association

“Lindsay is the most extraordinary lawyer I have ever had the privilege to work with in my 20 years in the entertainment industry. He is brilliant in his grasp of details, terrifically creative in finding solutions to complex problems, and is utterly ethical and trustworthy. On top of it all, he's a delightful and inspiring person to be around. I feel that one of the great blessings of my life is that Lindsay became my attorney and close advisor.”
